The Red River College Trade Fair

The Magazine Project is finally over! To “launch” our magazines, the first year CreComm students put on a Trade Fair.  Each magazine group was given a table and it was our job to attract people to our booth. Each group competed to attract the most attention to get people to pick up our magazine and take a look.

Here are some magazine booths that were there...

The turnout was great! The Atrium was filled with visitors and media celebrities such as Chris D and Ace Burpee came to check it out.

My table (LaughTrack magazine) had a comedian come in to entertain people who came to our booth. We had a clown/bike horn to let people know where we were and bubbles to surround our booth.

We also had a photo booth for people to get dressed up. When they got their pictures taken they got candy and Cool Aid. After the Fair, we uploaded all of the pictures onto Instagram with the #LaughTrack.

The project was a ton of work and very stressful, and I am glad it's over. However, I learnt a lot about photography, journalism, public relations, advertising and electronic publishing. It was a great learning tool for all of my classes.

It also feels great to hold all of my hard work in my hand with a hard copy of the magazine.
