Starting Up Again

I’m back to school once again and it’s back to blogging for me.

Throughout my holidays I went on course for work (the military reserves). I spent two weekends learning how to survive in the wilderness with no modern conveniences.

The first weekend was spent at Minto Armouries preparing us how to use the field equipment. I learned how to set up tents, pack sleds, and how to use the lanterns & stoves.

The second weekend (right before Christmas) was spent in Shilo Manitoba. We were out there for 4 days living in tents.

I don’t think I have been that cold, for as long of a period in my life. I am the type of person who is cold during the summer so going camping for 4 days in the middle of December was pretty rough for me.

However, despite the cold it was pretty awesome learning how to do section attacks, how to survive in winter conditions and how to navigate using only a map and compass for both during the day and the night.

Besides the two weekends of work, I spent the rest of my holidays relaxing with family and reuniting with my long lost friends. I also spent a lot of time with my boyfriend over the holidays. We went skating, shopping, mini golfing, and snowmobiling (it was my first time and it was amazing!). The holidays were great! and as usual went by way too fast.

But now I am back to the CreeComm life, where I now must get up before 11 a.m. and know what day of the week it is.

School started back up on Jan.2 with an assignment due by the end of the day. I already have a mini booklet of handouts on assignments that are due by the end of the semester. So far I have to create a magazine, make an Independent Project proposal, and finish the regular course load of assignments.

I know this is going to be a very hectic, time consuming, and challenging semester but I’m looking forward to the end results! (And summer holidays)
