School's Out

I have survived my first year of CreComm! It seems weird to be able to sleep again and not worry about getting assignments done...it feels wrong to not have anything to do (for 2 weeks anyways).

I'm starting 12 credit hours of spring courses at the University of Winnipeg this summer which runs all the way until July 31, and then 2nd year of CreComm starts back up mid August. I will also be working on my IPP over the summer which involves creating promotional videos for the Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue. So although CreComm has ended I will still be keeping busy.

I have learned a tremendous amount and have met amazing people throughout my 8 months of CreComm, and I thought I would never say this but, I'm already looking forward to second year.

These are a few of my last assignments:

This is the montage I created called "Walking with a Friend." Making a montage took a ton of time to create.

First I had to think of a script and plan out my shots. Once I had my story line planned out, it took me 15 hours of filming within 3 days to get enough footage for a 3 minute video. To film I used my T4i DSLR camera.

Once I had enough footage I spent 19 hours editing my footage in Adobe Premiere to create the montage.

It takes a great deal of time and effort for someone to watch your video for three minutes and say "that was cute" and get up and continue to do what they were doing before. Most people don't realize how much work is put into making a video. However, I loved every second I worked on it. So here it is; my first time creating a montage.

I also had to create an audio drama as a group assignment. Creating an audio drama was almost exactly like making a montage, only instead of focusing on visual footage we used audio.

Our group first had to create a script, record our voices and gather sound effects. We then edited our audio in Pro Tools for a total of 9 hours.

This is what we created.
